COTTAGE IN THE COTSWOLDS

The estate consists of a principal main house, a new modern extension, and a separate dedicated guest cottage. It is set within the charming, picturesque village of Icomb, located in the heart of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds. The cottage itself holds a rich history, having originally served as the refectory for the neighboring parish church. Surrounding the property, the sweeping views of the countryside are simply stunning.

Our clients were seeking the perfect countryside retreat for their family—a place to unwind on weekends away from the bustle of the city, as well as a welcoming venue to share memorable moments with friends.

When approaching the interior design proposal, our goal was not merely to treat this as a typical design project. Instead, we aimed to guide the clients in a fresh direction, gently encouraging them to step outside their usual aesthetic comfort zone. To create a space that feels both vibrant and deeply rooted in its context, we introduced a richer colour palette, celebrated traditional architectural elements, and specified high-quality finishes throughout, including rich French oak flooring.

By balancing the historical charm of the surroundings with the contemporary feel of the new extension, the design achieves a warm, elevated atmosphere that feels both refined and thoroughly livable. Every material choice and layout decision was made to honor the building's heritage while accommodating the dynamic needs of a modern family escape.

We are currently at the very beginning of the construction phase, bringing these curated concepts to life on site. The project is progressing smoothly, with full completion scheduled for Summer 2027.
