BATTERSEA POWER STATION PENTHOUSE 

Set at the top of the Boiler House, this penthouse comes with a breathtaking view over the River Thames and some of London's most iconic landmarks. From up here, you can spot the London Eye, the Shard, and the Houses of Parliament, all laid out across the skyline. The apartment is arranged over two levels, with a roof terrace crowning the top floor — a space that makes the most of its extraordinary setting.

The client wanted a new home for his family, somewhere he could enjoy the view every day, while the kids could make the most of the amenities surrounding Battersea Power Station. There's a nice detail behind the location too: the client has always been a big fan of Pink Floyd, so having a home within the very building that graces the cover of Animals felt like everything coming together rather fittingly.

The design approach was to work with the architectural bones of the space rather than against them — the double-height volume, the bronze-framed windows, and the bronze staircase are all striking features in their own right, and we wanted them to remain the protagonists of the apartment. At the same time, we introduced finishes and details that would refine the space further, elevating it beyond its industrial origins into something warmer and more considered.

We did this in part through the use of interesting wood veneers, like Macassar ebony, chosen for its deep, rich tone. Set against softer, lighter wallpapers, the contrast creates a real sense of depth and texture throughout the apartment — the darker wood grounding the space, while the paler tones keep it feeling open and bright, in keeping with the abundance of natural light pouring in through those oversized windows.
