FAMILY HOME REIGATE

This is our second residence in Surrey. Our clients came to us wanting to build a new family home — a house that could properly hold their extended family and everything that comes with it. The goal from the start was simple: to design something that reflected this new milestone in their lives, a home that felt like the beginning of a new chapter rather than just another build.

The idea was to give the house a contemporary feel in the kitchen and family snug, the spaces where the family naturally spends most of its time together. Here, the design is clean and current — light-filled, open, and easy to live in day to day. For the rest of the house, we introduced more traditional details, bringing in a sense of warmth and character that balances the more modern rooms. The result is a home that moves comfortably between the two, contemporary where it needs to be practical, traditional where it needs to feel established.

Finding that balance between old and new wasn't something we wanted to rush. Every room needed to feel considered in its own right, while still belonging to the same house — so the shift from one style to the other never feels abrupt, but rather like a natural progression through the home.

We're now almost at the end of the construction phase, and it's been a pleasure to see this project take shape — from the first conversations about what this home needed to mean for the family, through to the finer details now coming together on site. There's something particularly satisfying about a project like this, built around a genuine milestone, finally becoming a real, livable space.
